What to Pack in Your Hyrox Race Day Bag
Race day preparation is easy to overlook during a training block and easy to regret on the morning of the event. When you are in the warm-up area with your heart rate already climbing, you do not want to be looking for something you forgot to pack.
Here is the kit list that experienced Hyrox athletes actually carry, with the practical reasoning behind each one.
Kinesiology Tape (Cut the Night Before)
Knees, calves, and lower back are the most common applications for Hyrox athletes. Kinesiology tape reduces load on joints and muscles during the race, moves with the body, and stays on through sweat and effort for the full event. Cut your strips at home the night before so you are not wrestling with a roll in a busy changing room on race morning.

A Resistance Loop for Your Warm-Up
A light resistance loop takes up almost no space in a bag and is one of the most effective warm-up tools available. Five minutes of banded lateral walks and clamshells before you start activates the glutes and hip stabilisers, which sets the knees up to track correctly through the sled stations and sandbag lunges. Particularly valuable if you have been sitting in a car or on a train to reach the venue.

Instant Ice Pack or Kool Spray
For anything that flares up during or immediately after the race. An instant ice pack activates with a squeeze and needs no freezer. The Kool Spray is a lighter alternative that delivers rapid cooling directly to the skin. Both are worth having for acute soreness or any impact taken during the event. These can only be used post-race due to Hyrox rules and regulations.

A Foam Roller
Bigger to carry but worth it if you have the room. Rolling the quads, calves, and upper back in the warm-up area takes five minutes and loosens the tissue before the race starts. In the cool-down, it begins the recovery process before you have even left the venue. If a full roller is too bulky, a massage ball is a compact alternative that works well on the calves and glutes.

Blister Plasters and Fuel
Eight kilometres of running in a competition context creates friction. Blister plasters take up no space and save a lot of discomfort. Put them on at the first sign of hot spots rather than waiting, prior to race. For fuel, bring something familiar from training. Race venues vary in what they provide. Electrolyte drink, water, and a reliable carbohydrate snack are all worth having regardless.
For everything you need across training and recovery, trimbio stocks it all with free delivery on orders over £75 ex VAT and dispatch within two working days.
