What is PEMF therapy?
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. It uses electromagnetic fields delivered in short pulses to influence activity at the cellular level, without heat, skin contact or an electrical current passing through the body. It's used across physiotherapy, sports therapy and rehabilitation to support tissue healing, reduce pain and inflammation, and aid post-surgical recovery.
PEMF is also called pulsed magnetic therapy. It's distinct from static magnet products such as magnetic bracelets, the pulsed field is what produces the effect. We stock clinical PEMF devices including the Biomag 2e and the Zimmer EmField Pro.

What is the Zimmer EmField Pro and what is high energy inductive therapy?
The Zimmer EmField Pro is a high energy inductive therapy (HEIT) system, sometimes called HIFEM technology. It generates a strong pulsed magnetic field that induces involuntary muscle contractions, stronger than a patient could produce voluntarily. It's used for pelvic floor rehabilitation, core and gluteal muscle re-education, and neuromuscular rehabilitation after injury or surgery.

What accessories are available for the Biomag 2e?
The Biomag 2e uses separate applicators depending on the treatment area: flat coil applicators for joints and local areas, a solenoid applicator for full-circumference treatment of a limb, and a large mattress applicator for whole-body sessions. What are the contraindications for magnetic therapy?
As with other electrotherapy modalities, magnetic therapy should not be used near implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers, over active malignancy, or during pregnancy without clinical supervision. High energy inductive therapy carries additional contraindications, including IUDs and metal implants within the treatment area. Always follow the manufacturer's contraindication list for the specific device.
