Choosing the right patient lead for your device

Not all patient leads are interchangeable, even within the same therapy type. TENS lead wire, EMS physio leads and stimulation leads for combination units often use different pin configurations, channel counts, and connector styles, so the safest way to order a replacement is against the unit itself, not just the therapy category. If you're replacing a lead for a Chattanooga, EMS Primo, H-Wave or similar device, matching the model and channel (Channel 1, Channel 2, or a set of 2) avoids ordering the wrong fit.

A cracked lead casing, intermittent connection, or inconsistent output during treatment is usually the first sign a patient lead wire needs replacing before the device itself is at fault.

2mm adaptor vs 4mm adaptor: what it means for your setup

Patient lead wires typically terminate in either a 2mm or 4mm plug, and this is the detail that trips people up most often when reordering. A 4mm adaptor gives a shrouded, safety-covered connection commonly used with newer stimulation and TENS units. A 2mm adaptor is the older, narrower pin style still found on some legacy EMS and H-Wave equipment.
