Out-of-Date AED Pads: What They Are and Who They're For

Expired electrode pads cannot be used on patients. Once the gel degrades or the expiry date passes, they are not safe for clinical use. But for training purposes, they are ideal.

OOD pads let you practise correct pad placement, AED operation, and CPR procedures without using pads from your live clinical stock. That keeps your in-date pads sealed and ready.

These pads are free where available and listed here as stock allows.

Who uses them?

Workplace first aid coordinators, community defibrillator champions, schools, sports clubs, and healthcare trainers all make use of OOD pads to keep training costs down. If you run regular sessions, having a stock of out-of-date electrodes on hand means you're not eating into your live consumables every time you practise.

These pads are supplied strictly for training use only and must not be stored with a rescue-ready defibrillator.
